Styrene: An analysis of import and export data for 2023
With the large expansion of the styrene capacity and the decline of the operating rate of the stacking device, the domestic styrene capacity utilization rate has declined year by year. Secondly, due to the continuous strengthening of self-supply, China's import demand for styrene has weakened significantly. According to customs data, China's styrene imports in 2023 are 790,500 tons, down 30.85% from 2022.
From January to December 2023, China's styrene imports are relatively concentrated. The main import places are from Saudi Arabia, Singapore, Japan and Taiwan. The top four accounted for nearly 96%, and Singapore jumped from the fifth last year to the second this year, of which Saudi Arabia accounted for 60.49%, continuing to rank first in China's imports.
